Tracing our footsteps from a humble gathering in 2016 to a global brotherhood in 2026.
This is the story of Shoka Dzogwendo.
It began with a simple idea: brotherhood. In April 2016, fewer than 11 Zimbabwean expatriates in Johannesburg came together. We shared a love for football and a need for connection away from home. We called ourselves ‘Shoka Dzogwendo’, feet on a journey.
What was stated on the pitch quickly grew beyond the touchline. We realised that our strength lay not just in our formations but in our shared experiences. We supported each other through career changes, business ventures, and life’s milestones.
Over the last decade, the ‘journey’ expanded. We didn’t just play together; we did business together, celebrated together, and mourned together. Today, Shoka Dzogwendo is a thriving institution with active members across South Africa and growing chapters in the United Kingdom and New Zealand.
We have evolved from a Sunday league team into a premier Social and Lifestlye Club. As we celebrate our 10th Anniversary, we honour the vision of the founders and the commitment of every member who has worn the badge.
To foster a vibrant, supportive, and progressive community for the Zimbabwean diaspora. We strive to create a ‘home away from home’ where members can play together, grow together, and thrive together.
We are a village away from home. Whether on the pitch, by the fishing waters, or in the boardroom, we ensure no member walks alone. We celebrate success together and stand united during challenges.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards. Being a member of Shoka means carrying oneself with dignity, respect, and reliability in all interactions.
We are committed to the personal and professional evolution of our members. We believe in lifting each other up through mentorship, sharing opportunities, and constant improvement.
